Summary:

Audrey is 17-year-old and finds herself accidentally pregnant. She is now in the same place as her birth mother was almost two decades ago. She has a letter in the corner of a closet from her birth mother that her foster mother, Laura used to read to her in her childhood. She is very happy with Laura, and hence finds disconnected with her birth mother.

However, her current state brings out all emotions and she starts weighing her options to be a mother. Fortunately, her parents and boyfriend are very supportive and allow her to decide on how she wants her future to be. And then, she receives a letter, a new one from her birth mother, Amanda.

Does Audrey find her way back to her birth mother? Does Audrey follow the path of her birth mother too?

Review:

This novel was very realistic, and had a practical approach. I loved the way the author has portrayed a very emotional theme in a subtle manner.

The characters are very straightforward and kind. There is no single bad soul around. The protagonist herself is quite cool and very practical. She ain’t no drama queen.

The setting is very simple with minimal descriptions.

The narration was very lucid and brings out a vivid picture for the readers.

I appreciate the way the protagonist has a clear head and weighs her possible alternatives with regards to her pregnancy. The world would totally be a better place if it is filled with such characters who are gentle, kind, and honest. May it be her friends, or boyfriend, or parents, everyone is lovable and very realistic. They are supportive to each other and help Audrey get through this rough phase of her life.

I also liked how the protagonist respects her foster mother and does not go back searching for her birth mother in spite of the letters to her from her birth mom(like it usually happens in the other stories). The protagonist appreciates every single thing in the life she has now and is totally grateful to her birth mother for giving her a beautiful life with a loving mother.

The characters are not very complicated and give out a beautiful story amidst tough times. However, I personally feel, had the plot been more intense, I would have enjoyed it better. I definitely like the current story, just that it would have been a better experience for me.

I recommend it to all #yafans

Loved the cover and the amazing print quality.

About the author:

Rebecca Barrow writes stories about girls and all the wonders they can be. A lipstick obsessive with the ability to quote the entirety of Mean Girls, she lives in England, where it rains a considerable amount more than in the fictional worlds of her characters. She collects tattoos, cats, and more books than she could ever possibly read.
